Businesses often stick with their IT company despite dissatisfaction due to fear of switching.
This fear can sometimes be realised by two possible scenarios: the current IT provider making it difficult after being informed of leaving, and the new IT provider not having a smooth process for onboarding.
In this episode of Techcess, Mark talks us through what we should be ready for when it comes to changing IT providers.
As Mark explains, there's two very real threats to your stress free change to a new IT support povider!
The first nightmare outcome of switching IT companies is when your current IT provider decides to make life difficult after you've informed them of your intention to leave.
This could include things like holding your data hostage, or not responding to requests for help in transitioning by your new IT support provider.
"Onboarding a customer is a huge undertaking. If it's done properly, from an IT company point of view. It's really important then that we onboard the right customers that are gonna be a good fit for our business too.
So it's a two way thing. This is very much a relationship with your IT provider or IT partner.
So we kinda like to describe it cause working in partnership with customers is the way that we operate, but it's fine because you know, it's our job and we know it's our job to onboard the customer, to make sure it's slick and to make sure the customer doesn't have to deal with the fallout of things going wrong.
Here's a list of usernames and passwords. Get on with it. We will spend time to understand and to figure out the network. Cause it's our interest to do that. Cause we are now the ones holding the baby and the customer is relying on us to then provide support. But you do get dropped in the deep end sometimes when you're onboarding."
